Man sent to 3-day police remand

A man was on Tuesday remanded in three-day police custody in an alleged murder case.The police said the accused identified as Navneet, a resident of Panipat, Haryana, admitted to committing the murder. It may be recalled that the police had registered a case after one Bhagat Singh was found murdered in Vikas Nagar. The victim was a student of BA-I in Government College, Dehradun, and had been missing since July 25. According to the police, Navneet killed him as the victim was allegedly blackmailing his sister. — TNS

Water supply disrupted

Disruption in government potable water supply was reported at Saraswati Soni marg, Laxman Chowk, Badripur, Jogiwala, Bhaniyawala, Chamanpuri, Ballawala and adjoining colonies on Tuesday. Residents said despite several memorandums to government officials, nothing had been done to solve the perennial problem of water shortage. — TNS

Missing man found dead

A man who was missing for the past few days was found dead on Tuesday. A missing person report was registered at the Doiwala police station. The deceased has been identified as Noor Hasan. — TNS

Liquor seized 

The police on Tuesday arrested two men with 30 pouches each of country-made liquor. SI Pradeep Negi arrested them when they were trying to smuggle the pouches. The accused have been identified as Manjeet and Mahendra. They have been sent to jail. — TNS
