Rain continued to shower misery on residents in various parts of the district for the third consecutive day today.
A migrant worker from Uttar Pradesh was washed away in a tributary of the Swan River in Amb this morning.
The victim, identified as Raju, was a resident of Ajamgarh.
Raju was working in an industrial unit in Amb and according to one of his co-workers, Ram Swarup Gupta, the victim had gone near the rivulet to answer the call of nature when the gushing waters carried him away. The police have launched an operation to search the victim.
A transformer in Muchiali village of Bangana was damaged after a tree fell on following a landslide. The electricity board authorities estimated the damage at Rs 3 lakh. They said it would take them a week to restore power in the affected areas.
A number of roads, including the Una-Dharamsala stretch, remained blocked for a few hours in the morning due to road breaches at a couple of stretches, including one near the Nandpur bridge in Amb. Consequently, a number of candidates, who were on way to Una to appear in examination to be conducted by the Subordinate Services Selection Board, failed to report at the centres in time. Many of them were barred from entering the examination hall for being late.
