Manesar, the industrial turf of the state, is all set to be the model tehsil.

Come March and all land records of Manesar will be a click away, as they will be computerised and integrated with the online registration system, a step that will help in checking fraud in the sale of land.

“This part of the state has always been the hub of land disputes and scams. Digitisation of records is the solution, besides giving a respite from the tedious paperwork. We are working in a transparent manner and have employed drones who are recording every inch of land in Manesar. The administration is updating land records using techniques such as geo-referencing and geo-mapping,” said Deputy Commissioner TL Satya Prakash.

Much to the amusement of local residents every morning around 6 am, drones take flight to capture images. The information thus collected is reviewed viz-a-viz paper records available in tehsil offices.

Officials claim the work is on in full swing, but unconsolidated lands are giving them trouble. “There are cases where a person has sold off 30 yards from several acres. Such unconsolidated holdings are hard to be recorded and to keep tabs on. It becomes difficult to correct the records. Administrative officials are meeting landowners and updating records,” a tehsildar said.

“The administration expects the work to be complete by March 1. Then we will present it to the state and the nation a model tehsil where getting to know about land records will be a click away,” the DC added.

Sources said once the digitisation would be complete, the practice of giving handwritten copy of “jamabandi” in Manesar would be done away with and only a computer-generated copy would be given to an applicant on demand.
