IPS Mann and Avtar Singh Khara will vie for the post of president in the upcoming Chandigarh Golf Club elections scheduled for April 24. Raviveer Singh, third candidate for the top post, withdrew his candidature on the last day of withdrawals today. Besides two contenders for the top post, 13 members will contest for the 11-member executive committee.

Taranveer Singh Sibia, Amit Bakshi, Jagatbir Singh, Harmanjeet Singh Sethi, TPS Virk, Zoravar Singh, Col (retd.) Hardev Singh Mann, Amarbir Lehal, Lt. Col. (retd.) KS Thandi, Sohna A Singh, Sanjay Singh Bala, Raviveer Singh and Captain (retd.) Mohan Bir Singh will be vying to get in the list of the 11-member executive committee of the club.

This year the name of the new president will be announced a day after the polling. On April 24, after the general meeting, members will cast their vote from 11.30 am to 4.30 pm. The results will be announced on April 25.

A total of 1,800 regular members in the club have voting rights. On an average, about 1,000 members exercise their right to elect the new president. —TNS
