Mussoorie, October 26
Steve Lukknonen, physical instructor at Woodstock School, was adjudged the winner of the half marathon race (21 km) organised today under the aegis of Mussoorie Mountain Writers Festival. The half marathon began at Hanifl Centre near Woodstock School here. Ayan John and Egor Suvorov bagged the second and the third spot, respectively, in the race. The marathoners had to touch Buraskhanda and return to Hanifl Centre to complete the race.
In the women’s category of the half marathon, Vaughan Skinker stood first while Smriti Kathait and Sanna Schliewe stood second and third, respectively.
In the 10-km race, Sagar Singh, Sanrabh and Rahul Kumar stood first, second and third, respectively. In the 5-km race, Amit Kumar stood first while Shinyo Kin and Lavish Pundir stood second and third, respectively.
Alumni of various schools, including Oak Grove School and Wynberg Allen School, also participated in the half marathon race. Saurabh Nandi and Sumanto Sen, former students from Oak Grove School, said they were elated to take part in the race and were reminded of the long-distance running during their school days.
Dr Jonathon Long, principal, Woodstock School, gave away citations and awards to the winners on the occasion.
