The mutilation of Sepoy Mandeep Singh’s body in Machil, Jammu and Kashmir, at the hands of Pakistani army is a dastardly act, said Dr NK Kalia, father of martyr Captain Saurabh Kalia.

The ghastly incident has brought back the memories of the Kargil war when the body of Capt Saurabh Kalia from Palampur was found in a mutilated condition, Dr Kalia said, adding that civil society would condemn such cowardly act which was in complete violation of the Geneva Convention.

Meanwhile, KB Ralhan and Neelam Sood, chief spokespersons of the People’s Voice said had the Government of India taken serious cognisance of the Captain Kalia case, Pakistani army would have desisted from committing such grisly acts again.

They said the government should take up the matter at the international level and with the Pakistani government, so that no martyr, irrespective of his nationality, is subjected to such cruel treatment and due respect is shown to soldiers who lay down their lives for the safety of their country.
