MCL officials to review performance of energy-efficient LED lights

Ludhiana, August 12

To review the performance of energy efficient LED lights, two officials from the Municipal Corporation Ludhiana will visit the cities of Jamnagar and Jaipur, where Energy Efficiency Services Limited (EESL) — a company has installed these lights.

The Punjab Municipal Infrastructure Development Corporation (PMIDC) has deputed officials for this task. The main aim of the visit is to see whether LED lights have brought any difference or not.

Recently, a meeting was held in Chandigarh, where it was decided that officials from Ludhiana, Amritsar, Jalandhar and Mohali would visit cities where Energy Efficiency Services Limited (EESL) and M/s eSmart Energy Solutions Private Limited have installed LED lights.

From MC Ludhiana Additional Commissioner Surabhi Mailk along with XEN Lights Balwinder Singh would go to Jamnagar and Jaipur from August 16 till 21 on an official tour.

MC Commissioner from Amritsar Sonali Giri along with another officer would go to similar cities.

Similarly, the officials from Jalandhar and Mohali will go to Vishakhapatnam and Bhubaneswar.

MCL Commissioner Ghanshyam Thori said: “LED streetlights were among important projects of the city and it is also a part of Smart City mission for Ludhiana. Therefore, it is necessary to verify everything before starting anything. So this visit will help in seeing the work done by the company in these two cities.”

LED streetlight project was proposed in 2008 to replace existing streetlights with the energy efficient lights.

There are total 1.05 lakh streetlight points in the entire city and the Ludhiana Municipal Corporation is paying more than Rs 30 crore per annum to the Power Corporation department in the form of bills.
