Dehradun, July 8
Uttarakhand Chief Minister Harish Rawat today announced linking of his government flagship “Mera Per Mera Dhan yojana” to the local festival “Harela” with an aim to promote conservation in the state.
The Chief Minister said this while interacting with representatives of “Dhaad Sanstha”, a social organisation, in Dehradun today.
He directed the State Cultural Department that a programme based on “Jhumelo” folk song be organised at the district level under the “Aao Manae Hariyala” campaign on July 16. Rawat said saplings of fodder species and fruits had been included under the Mera Per-Mera Dhan yojana.
The Chief Minister said his government was making serious efforts to promote traditional organic agricultural practices. Traditional foods of the state were being promoted so that they get adequate recognition at the national and international levels. He added famous local food “Jhangora Kheer” had been included in the menu of the President House in New Delhi. He said the state government was contacting eminent religious institutions for promoting “Chaulay Ladoos” as a “Prasad”, as it would accelerate the production of indigenous food crops.
Rawat said at least two female calves would be presented to women belonging to disaster-hit families. Secretary of Dhad Sanstha Harshmani Vyas said their organisation was also working for children of disaster-hit families in the Kedar valley.
