The chairman of the State Minority Commission, NS Bindra, at a meeting here today appealed to the members of the minority community to avail of the benefits of various schemes and projects meant for their development in the state.
Bindra said most of the members of the minority community were unable to avail of the benefits being given through various schemes launched by the Central and state governments. He would go to the community members in every town and apprise them about the various schemes.
He said the lackadaisical approach of the officials in various departments was the reason behind delay in resolving the pending matters of the minorities but since he had taken over as the president of the commission all such issues were being expedited speedily.
Member of the minority communities gathered here said they were finding it difficult to make their domicile and caste certificates due to cumbersome procedure. Bindra replied that the government had now passed an order stating that minority communities can use the documents given by their mosques etc and show it to the officials so that they did not face any problem.
He said schemes for the minorities were not being run by the Social Welfare Department but minority officer had been deputed in four districts and all related department had been opened under the same head in the district.
Anand Rawat, general secretary and the son of Chief Minister Harsh Rawat, was present in the meeting said the government was committed towards development of the minorities in the state. He said most of the schemes had not reached the section due to lack of awareness and with this awareness meeting the
beginning had been made and more such camps would be held in other places in near future.
Anand Rawat said it was a cause of concern that only six officials had made it at the top bureaucratic level and were working at important portfolios in the state.
He said the problems being faced by minorities would be resolved in consultation with the Chief Minister and efforts would be made to provide economic support especially to women from the minority section.
Senior Congress leaders former MLA Jot Singh Gunsola and MC president Mamnohan Singh Mall said the government through various schemes was focusing on bringing the minorities in the mainstream of the society. Congress leaders Sandeep Sahni, Javed Khan, Satish Dhaundiyal and others were present on the occasion.
