Moderate Hurriyat seeks release of Asiya

Denouncing the recent arrest of woman separatist leader and Dukhtaran-e-Millat chief Asiya Andrabi as “unprovoked and unjustified”, the moderate faction of the Hurriyat Conference led by Mirwaiz Umar Farooq has demanded immediate release of Kashmiri political prisoners from jail on Eid eve.
Seeking her release ahead of Eid, Hurriyat in a statement today said Asiya was undergoing illness and it was illegal to keep her in confinement.
“Hurriyat demands immediate release of Asiya as her arrest is as blatant violation of law,” it said.
“It has been a ritual around the world to release prisoners from jails on auspicious days like Eid,” the Hurriyat said.
