Mohali councillor Amteshwar Kaur dead

Amteshwar Kaur (55), who was recently elected to the Mohali Municipal Corporation, died at Panchkula today.
According to reports, she had gone to Panchkula to meet her relatives. She was reported to have suffered a heart attack there after which she was rushed to the hospital where doctors declared her “brought dead”.
Amteshwar Kaur, who had won the civic body elections for the third time, had been facing heart-related problems for some time and had even undergone a heart operation.
She had contested the corporation elections as an Independent from Ward No. 29 but was part of the Azad Group formed by coloniser-turned-politician Kulwant Singh. She was even one of the contenders for the post of Mayor of the corporation as the seat had been reserved for women by the government.
She was running an NGO, Generation Saviour Association, which was mainly fighting against the use of tobacco.
