Chandigarh: The Haryana Government has decided to launch a Learning Enhancement Programme (LEP) in 9,000 primary schools within three months. Besides, moral education would be introduced in Classes VI to VIII, said Keshni Anand Arora, Additional Chief Secretary (School Education). The textbooks of this subject would be delivered to the schools by April 30. Work is under way on the textbooks of moral education for Classes IX and X, she added. TNS

Mobile app developed to redress grievances
To facilitate speedy forwarding and redressal of grievances through effective and efficient monitoring, the Department of Administrative Reforms and Public Grievances, has developed a mobile application for lodging public grievances. This mobile application could be installed on Android based mobiles. The facility can be used by logging on to pgportal.gov.in in the Public Grievances portal. TNS

Panchayat decides to fine those wasting water
The Burshyam panchayat in Israna block of this district on April 24 decided to slap a fine of Rs 10,000 on the person found wasting water. Referring to the water crisis in Latur and other drought-hit areas in MP, Rajasthan and other parts of India, village sarpanch Poonam Devi exhorted the villagers to save water. Encroachments cause traffic congestion
Congestion on roads and large-scale encroachment by shopkeepers have made it difficult for the commuters to move on the streets in the city. Long traffic jams have become a common sight on the Ambala road, Chhatrawas road , Railway Station road, New Karnal road , Park road and in the bazaar area of the walled city. Large scale encroachment can also be witnessed on Kaithal-Patiala road and national highways leading towards Jind, Hisar and Karnal. Man booked for sexual assault
A person has been booked on the charge of sexually assaulting a minor at Kharkan village ofthe district. The accused Malkit Singh, a resident of Sair village, tried to outrage the modesty of the victim when she was alone at home on Thursday. Woman missing
The police have registered a case against an unknown person after a woman, Rani (35), went missing on April 23. The woman’s husband, Lakhbir Singh, a resident of Sadakpur village in the district, alleged that she had been kidnapped from their house when she was alone at home.
