Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal today unveiled a statue of Mother Teresa during a state-level function here at airport road.

Interacting with mediapersons after unveiling the statue, Sukhbir announced the naming of the road from Amritsar to Sri Guru Ram Dass Jee International airport after Mother Teresa.

He said that Mother Teresa had come to India and had extended her helping hand to the underprivileged. Sukhbir said that it was a matter of pride for Punjabis that Union Minister Harsimrat Kaur Badal was part of the delegation that went to Mother Teresa’s canonisation at the Vatican.

Revenue and Public Relations Minister Bikram Singh Majithia said that September 4 was a great day for those who believe in humanity as on that very day, the Pope had declared Mother Teresa a saint at the Vatican in front of thousands of people. He said that it was a matter of pride for all Indians.
