MP Tarun Vijay adopts Tehri village

Rajya Sabha MP Tarun Vijay has adopted Tewa village in Jaunpur development block of Tehri district under the MP Adarsh Gram scheme.

The announcement was made at a review meeting of six states, Jammu and Kashmir, Haryana, Punjab, Himachal, Chandigarh and Uttarakhand, held recently.

Tarun Vijay has promised residents to extend all support for the development of the village.

Vijay’s representative Bhola Singh Parmar said Tewa was the first village from Tehri district which had been selected under the scheme.

Vijay had announced funds of Rs 12 lakh for a Barat Ghar at Tewa, Rs 30 lakh for beautification of the community lawns at Chnnan Gaon, Rs 8 lakh for a school playing ground at gram panchayat Khyarsi and Rs 7 lakh for another Barat Ghar at gram panchayat Kheda in Jaunpur development block in Tehri district, said Parmar.

The MP had said he would make an effort to develop the Devalsari region into an eco-tourism destination.

The area of the village is around 148.90 hectares and the population is 537, including 279 men and 258 women while the Schedule Castes (SC) population is around 231, including 118 men and 113 women.
