As many as 700 trekkers will take part in the event till May 30. Over 100 visitors have taken part till today, say officials of the KMVN. Trekkers are coming from various parts of the country, mostly from Karnataka, Maharashtra, Telangana, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh and Gujarat. “They film the flora and fauna, specially various species of birds they come across the route, and upload it on social networking sites. It attracts more tourists to the town,” said Trilok Singh Martolia, general manager of the KMVN, who is hosting the event.

Yudhisthir Sharma, Chief Executive Officer of the Youth Hostel of India, said the institution was organising such events to promote tourism in over 90 countries for the last 46 years. “Most of the trekkers have reached Munsiyari after learning about it through internet,” he added.
