Ramphal Gujjar, a farmer from Gujrani village, refused to sell his Murrah buffalo for the price of an Audi car.
“My buffalo, which we fondly call Devi, set a national record by giving 29.5 kg milk in a single day at a livestock milk competition held in the district recently. My buffalo stood first, while my brother’s buffalo stood second by giving 27 kg milk,” said Ramphal.
Ramphal owns several high milk-giving Murrah breed buffaloes.
“The competition was witnessed by several Murrah breed lovers from across the state and Davinder Coach, who rears Murrah bulls, offered me to sell Devi for the price of an Audi car.”
He said an Audi car’s market price is above Rs 50 lakh and any price is less for my buffalo.
He said it was not the first time that his buffalo won the first prize. Last year too it stood first at the livestock milk competition held in Jhajjar and the then Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda gave a prize of Rs 51,000.
“Tempting offer for Devi is not new for my family, but I want to create a profit from its progeny and the income can be multiplied several times,” he said, who earns a handsome amount by selling milk.
He said the daily diet of Murrah buffaloes included cotton seed (bandolay), black gram, mustard cake (khal), fruits etc.
Jai Singh, Deputy Director of the Animal Husbandry Department, said Ramphal’s buffalo gave 29.5 kg milk and was declared first in the milk competition held recently.
