A music competition was organised on the second day of the Kala Utsav at the GMSSS-10 today. An initiative of the Ministry of Human Resource and Development (MHRD), the fest promotes art through education. The event was held under the guidance of principal-cum-venue coordinator Harbir Singh Anand.
The chief guest on the occasion was Rubinderjit Singh Brar, Director, School Education, Chandigarh. Chanchal Singh, Deputy Director (School Education); Saroj Mittal, DDVE-cum-DDSE (RMSA), Suman Sharma, DDAE-cum-mission coordinator, RMSA; Vinay R Sood, DEO; and Sukhneer Kaur, DDEO-3, graced the occasion.
Students from 15 schools showcased their talent in this competition. Nodal officer Anujit Kaur, DDEO-II; Neeta Sandhu, principal, GMSSS- 16 and Rajni Mahajan, pedagogy coordinator were also present. The judges critically evaluated each and every entry as per the guidelines issued by the MHRD/NCERT.
The aim of the event was to nurture talent of schoolchildren and act as a platform to bring art to the centre stage. The Kala Utsav is being held in four areas-music, dance, theatre and visual arts-on the theme, “Living Traditions of Art”.
The GMSSS-Karsan secured the first position in the competition while the GMSSS-33 and the GMSSS- 10 secured the second and third positions, respectively.
