Dr Ranjana Gupta, younger sister of AAP leader Arvind Kejriwal who will be sworn in Delhi Chief Minister tomorrow, is an ardent admirer of yoga guru Ramdev. She not only practises yoga herself, but also recommends asanas to her patients.

Dr Ranjana told The Tribune while leaving for New Delhi to attend his brother’s oath-taking ceremony that their entire family was elated at the landslide victory of the AAP in the Delhi Assembly elections. “Arvind has reached this point after facing many ups and downs in his life. His perserverance, hard work and determination made him win the elections,” she said.

“My daughter is very excited. She feels proud when her friends, teachers, principal and neighbours talk about her uncle,” she added.

Dr Ranjana said Arvind always had a soft spot for poor, disabled and suppressed people. He never hesitated from taking any injured to hospital. “Arvind shares principles and traits of Mahatma Gandhi. He often visits Raj Ghat to pay obeisance to Gandhiji,” she added.

She said just as Ramdev was a blessing for ailing people, Arvind would cure the ailing and corrupt bureaucratic and political system. “I am hopeful that my brother will do wonders in his second tenure as Delhi Chief Minister,” said a confident Ranjana.

Dr Ranjana, along with her husband Dr Ajay Gupta, has been practising medicine at her nursing home at Shivalik Nagar here since 1995. Her husband is the head of anaesthesia department at Bharat Heavy Electrical Limited (BHEL). She believes that besides allopathic medicines, yoga helps cure several ailments.

Dr Ranjana is also involved in charity and social work. She does not take fee from poor patients. Even from other patients, she charges a nominal fee of Rs 50.

She thinks Ramdev, who had indirectly supported the BJP during the last parliamentary elections, will do well to refrain from political activities.
