Traders and labourers started an indefinite dharna at the Uttarakhand Forest Corporation office here on Saturday demanding extraction of sub-minerals from riverbeds of the Kosi and Dabka rivers. The traders have demanded that despite the High Court opinion in the matter, Nigam officials are unnecessarily delaying opening extraction of sub-minerals from these rivers. “This delay is depriving thousands of people of their livelihood as they have been related with the business for years,” said Balvinder Singh, a sub-mineral trader near the Dabka river.
