Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh today said that Nainsukh, the great painter who excelled in the art of making Pahari paintings, kept the art form alive in the 18th century in Guler in Kangra and this tradition must not be allowed to die.
He was speaking after the screening of a short film on Nainsukh and an illustrative talk on the great pahari painter of 18 century- Nainsukh of Guler at Gaiety Theatre here today.
“He was one of the prominent artists of his times who with his deep thoughts and precision painted the real, live and the natural keeping in mind the veracity of the theme,” he said.
The Chief Minister lauded the efforts of Director of the film Amit Dutta for flashing the background of Nainsukh’s life and his masterpieces. He emphasized that his work should be preserved for generations to come so that they could know about the rich legacy of art and culture of the state.
An illustrative talk by Padam Bhushan and Padam Shri Prof BN Goswamy, who researched and reconstructed the biography of Nainsukh, has been the basis of the film “Nainsukh” produced by Dr Eberhard Fischer. The film Nainsukh was premiered at Venice film festival in 2010.
Goswamy threw light on the life and paintings of Nainsukh and the circumstances which made him conduct the research. The Chief Minister honoured Dutta and Prof Goswamy on the occasion.
Every town to have fire tender: Virbhadra
Shimla: Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh on Tuesday said the state government was planning to provide fire tenders in every town of the state besides covering all industrial townships. He inaugurated a blood donation camp organised by Home Guards and Fire Services at the Ridge on Tuesday. He also flagged off fire tenders for the fire station of Kala-Amb in Sirmour, Larji in Kullu district and for a fire post at Sunni in the Shimla rural constituency. After induction of four more vehicles, the total strength of the fire tenders in the state has gone up to 120. TNS
