National Award for Children’s Literature will be given to Sahitya Academy Awardee Dr Darshan Singh Aasht, working in Punjabi University, Patiala.
According to chairman of the Indian Institute of Oriental Heritage (An International Institute of Oriental Studies and Research), Kolkata, Dr Aasht will get the award during the 40th annual international conference on February 18, 2017, at Adya Katyayani Shaktipeeth Auditorium Chhatarpur in New Delhi.
Dr Aasht is one of the few to have been selected for an Award by the panel of members of the Indian Institute of Oriental Heritage based on his credentials found in the book ‘Asian American Who’s Who’ published by Rifacimento International, New Delhi. Dr Aasht has been selected for Lifetime Achievement Award and will receive the coveted award.
Dr Aasht is a member of the State Advisory Board Department of Languages, Punjab. He is also an Honourable Editor of a Punjabi children’s magazine Baalpreet, which is being published by the Child Welfare Council, Patiala. He has written 70 books for children in Punjabi, Hindi, Oriya, Assamees, Maithily, Urdu, Shahmukhi and some
other languages.
