National Youth Day

To celebrate National Youth Day, celebrated on birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda on 10th of January, CII’s Young Indians (Yi), Ludhiana, organised a blood donation camp at Raghunath Hospital, Ludhiana. As many as 50 volunteers donated blood. Dr Mehak Bansal, chair, Yi Project, MASOOM, said, “When any person donates blood it helps in saving number of lives. Moreover regular donation of blood helps in maintaining an appropriate level of cholesterol in blood and this also leads to prevention of few modern day diseases and above all gives a feeling of satisfaction. In most of the traumatic cases the requirement of blood is more and in our country due to non-availability of blood lives are lost. If ample quantity of blood is available at ease, which is only possible if more and more people donate blood, thousands of lives can be saved.

Lohri celebrations

A large number of SC/BC teaching, non-teaching staff and students celebrated Lohri and New Year at Parker House, PAU, Ludhiana. Students also pledged to fight against the atrocities committed against people of backward class, particularly problems such as implementation of reservation, roster point system in promotions, direct recruitment and fee structure. In future, conferences, seminars and rallies will be organised for the constitutional rights of the weaker section of the society in PAU and Punjab. A large number of students participated in the event. Nirmal Singh, Sohan Singh, Sarvjit Singh, Dalveer Kataria, Krishan Kumar, Jatinder Rai were also present. — TNS
