Nav chetna shivir workshop

A workshop on ‘Nav Chetna Shivir’ was held at Khalsa College for Women for the non-teaching staff. The workshop which started on June 29 concluded on Monday. The Art of Living is a non-government organisation and ‘Nav Chetna Shivir’ is a social project which seeks to address the challenges of economically and emotionally distressed communities by empowering them with tools and techniques they need to fight these challenges. As many as 25 staff members attended the workshop. The objective of the workshop was to develop confidence among participants and help them combat stress-level. It also taught them how to find creative and innovative solutions to face the challenges of life. Pulkit Grover educated the participants on environment issues, and spoke about importance of saving water and promoting tree plantation. Yoga teacher, Harmandeep Singh, shared important tips on various yoga asanas to bring balance between body and mind. Participants also practised meditation.

SOI FORMS HELP DESK

The Student Organisation of India (SOI) wing of Shiromani Akali Dal established help desk at Government College for Boys to solve the problems of students. The students faced problems related to admission at help desk and the matter was discussed with college authorities by director, youth development board and SOI zonal president, Meetpal Singh Dugri. Dugri said several students had approached through SOI helpline number regarding problems in admission process. The college authorities assured to cooperate with students.

STUDENT SHINES

Students of BSc –III (Biotechnology Honours ) of Guru Nanak Girls College, Model Town, showed excellent result in  the PU exam held in April, 2016. Apinder Kaur bagged ninth position in the university and stood first in college securing 80.73% marks. Iqbaljeet Kaur bagged second position in college securing 79.27% marks and Gursharandeep Kaur stood third in the college securing 79.2% marks. —TNS
