NDRI felicitates NABARD chairperson

The National Dairy Research Institute (NDRI) on Tuesday conferred the Dr NN Dastur Memorial Oration Award on Dr Harsh Kumar Bhanwala, Chairperson, National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD), Mumbai, and the Dr KK Iya Memorial Oration Award on Dr Nagendra P Shah, professor, Food Science and Dairy Technology, University of Hong Kong. Dr AK Srivastava, Director, NDRI, gave away the awards.

While delivering the NN Dastur lecture on ‘leveraging animal wealth for small farmers’ prosperity’, Dr Harsh Kumar expressed the importance of livestock for the uplift of small farmers.

Dr Nagendra P Shah delivered the KK Iya lecture on ‘Improving health functionalities by reducing fat and salt contents in cheese and using pro-biotics’ and said whole milk mozzarella cheese contained 25 per cent fat. — TNS
