Nephew of Faridkot’s former ruler cremated

Tikka Bharat Inder Singh, nephew of Harinder Singh, the last Maharaja of erstwhile Faridkot state, was cremated here today.

Bharat Inder (75) died after prolonged illness in Chandigarh on Sunday. His body was brought from Chandigarh to Faridkot today afternoon and he was cremated in the royal mausoleum (Shahi Samadhan) of erstwhile rulers here.

Son and daughter of Deepinder Kaur, chairperson of the Mehrawal Khewaji Trust and daughter of Harinder Singh, reached Faridkot from Kolkatta to attend the cremation.

The Mehrawal Khewaji Trust has been fighting legally over the inheritance of assets worth Rs 20,000 crore of the erstwhile Maharaja of Faridkot and these “Shahi Samadhan” is also one of the disputed properties of the erstwhile princely state.
