Nurpur, March 30
Dr Randeep Guleria, a renowned pulmonologist (medicine) who was elevated recently and appointed as the new Director of the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), Delhi, hails from Mazra (Indora) village in Nurpur. He has brought laurels not only to the Nurpur area but also the state.
Earlier, Dr Guleria was head of the Department of Pulmonary Medicine and Sleep Disorders at AIIMS. He was one of the three candidates whose name for the top post had been shortlisted by a search and selection panel set up by the Union Health Ministry, Government of India, last week.
As per information, Dr Guleria has remained a personal physician of former Prime Minister AB Vajpayee and his father late Jagdev Guleria, a noted cardiologist, was a personal physician of the late Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru. His appointment as the Director of AIIMS has cheered residents of the area.
