Members of ‘Goonj’—an NGO— gave a memorandum to ADM Jharna Kamthan at the District Magistrate’s office here today to demand formation of a separate police team to put a check on tantriks.
Activists working for the safety of girls alleged that cases of crimes against girls had increased recently but the police had failed to provide them safety. They had also demanded a check on people involved in tantric activities, as a girl child was killed by a youth with the help of tantric activities in Dehradun yesterday.
Earlier, members of the NGO gathered at the magistrate’s office and gave a memorandum to the departmental officer. Secretary of the NGO Soniya Anand said “There is a need to form a separate team of police, which can work on the cases of crimes against girls and especially keep an eye on people involved in tantric activities”.
