Activists working for the safety of girls alleged that cases of crimes against girls had increased recently but the police had failed to provide them safety. They had also demanded a check on people involved in tantric activities, as a girl child was killed by a youth with the help of tantric activities in Dehradun yesterday.

Earlier, members of the NGO gathered at the magistrate’s office and gave a memorandum to the departmental officer. Secretary of the NGO Soniya Anand said “There is a need to form a separate team of police, which can work on the cases of crimes against girls and especially keep an eye on people involved in tantric activities”.
