Nearly 10 days after the much-hyped launch of Stree Samman App, Aadhar, an NGO, has come forward to assist the police in running an awareness campaign of the mobile application meant to provide timely help to women in the city.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Narinder Bhargav said the mobile app which was available for android users would soon be accessible on Apple I- phones as well. “Every female, whether student, working woman or housewife, should reap the benefit of this application. And all those who can help the police in making it possible are welcomed,” the DCP said.
He said an NGO Aadhar had come forward to offer support to Police Commissioner Paramraj Singh Umranangal in promoting this app among women.
The DCP said on an average, four queries are received by the police officials on a routine basis. “Recently, a worried father used the Stree Samman alert (help) to check if the police was prompt in offering help. The police responded immediately. The man said he used the application to test if it was working,” the DCP said.
Ravinandan Sharma, president of Aadhar Foundation, said the NGO has school teachers, social activists and people from all walks of life as its members. They will visit educational institutions and other places for popularising the app.
