The Sant Nirankari Charitable Foundation celebrated Baba Hardev Singh’s 63rd birth anniversary by organising a cleanliness campaign and a tree plantation drive at various places in the city.
The drive was conducted at the PGI in Sector 12, local railway station, government schools, cremation ground, Dhanas, parks in the city and nearby areas. The drive at Government College, Mohali, was initiated in the presence of Dr BS Cheema, zonal in-charge, Chandigarh zone.
Deputy Mayor Anil Kumar Dubey; Senior Deputy Mayor Rajesh Gupta; Station Superintendent TP Singh; Mohinder Singh, Sanyojak, Sant Nirankari Mandal, Chandigarh branch; and Khetriya Sanchalak Atam Prakash were among those present at the railway station.
Appreciating the efforts and selfless sewa of the foundation, TP Singh said volunteers and sewadars of the mission had changed the face of the station and it would be a privilege if similar drives were organised frequently.
Dubey also appreciated the alliance of the government and the mission in cleaning 264 stations and planting several trees. Over 700 volunteers and devotees from Chandigarh and Manimajra contributed to the drive at the railway station.
Dr AK Gupta, Medical Superintendent; Dr Pankaj Arora, in-charge, sanitation; and Dr Suchet Sachdev, in- charge, Blood Bank Society, PGI were among those present during the drive at the PGI.
Joginder Kaur Jogi, member in charge, branches North region, said the mission had been conducting cleanliness and tree plantation drives since 2009, for the service to humanity, and these services are applauded world over.
Dr AK Gupta expressed his happiness on the mission’s selfless service to society and thanked the volunteers for their contribution. Niranjan Singh, former IAS, was also present.
A tree plantation drive was also organised at the Municipal Corporation Park in Sector 50, Chandigarh.
The campaign was conducted under the guidance of Mohinder Singh, Sanyojak, Chandigarh zone.
