Karnal, April 29
For reducing air pollution in the NCR and surrounding districts, only Bharat Stage IV vehicles would be registered in Karnal, Kurukshetra, Yamunanagar and Hisar from now on.
These orders have been issued by the State Transport Commissioner.
Only vehicles manufactured on or after October 1, 2014 with Bharat Stage IV would be registered in these cities, said Yogesh Kumar, Secretary, RTA.
Vehicles with Bharat Stage III standards, manufactured on or after October 1, 2014, would not be registered in these places as per the new guidelines. However, old four wheelers with Bharat Stage III standards manufactured before April 1, 2010, could only be re-registered on transfer basis, he revealed.
As per the Central Motor Vehicle Rules, Bharat Stage IV mass emission standards were mandatory for the National Capital Region (NCR) and now these four cities, he added.
The vehicles with national permit, inter-state permit or tourist permit would be exempted from the norms, he said.
