Chandigarh, January 4
Five new Volvo buses, which were started by Uttarakhand Transport Corporation between cities in the hill state and Chandigarh, are not getting space at the ISBT in Sector 43 here.
Uttarakhand Transport Corporation officials said despite getting a no objection certificate (NOC) from the Chandigarh Transport Department, their buses were not being given space at the Sector 43 bus stand.
Meanwhile, BJP councillor Heera Negi, BJP Uttarkhand cell chairman BS Bisht and BJP mandal president Pardeep Bansal today reached the bus stand to look into the matter.
Heera Negi said the Transport Department officials had assured them that they would provide space to the Volvo buses from the hill state at the city bus stand.
Four Volvo buses ply between Dehradun and Chandigarh while a bus plies between Haldwani and the city. A large number of people have benefitted with starting of these buses.
