Nod to beautification project for Jind’s Pandu Pindra village

The Jind district administration and the Pandu Pindra village panchayat has decided to beautify the historic Pindra pilgrimage.

Jind Deputy Commissioner (DC) has directed the District Development and Panchayat Office (DDPO) to allow the panchayat to utilise its funds for the project.

Located 6 km away from the city on the Gohana road, the site lacks basic amenities like drinking water and sanitation facility. There is also no drainage arrangement from the historic pond where lakhs of devotees take the holy dip.

As per the proposal, a new community center, an open air theater, water drainage system for the historic pond, renovation of the surrounding streets, stairs of 40 ghats and all major parts will be constructed.

The Pandu Pindara Development Committee (PPDC), formed by the Pandu Pindara village panchayat, got approval from the DDPO to start work after an intervention of Jind DC Ajit Balaji Joshi.

“We have got approval to start the beautification project. We hope that within the coming months, Pandu Pindara will have all the required facilities,” said Ram Bhagat Kaushik, member of the PPDC.

The panchayat will conduct renovation with its own fund of Rs 50 lakh. Earlier also, the panchayat had proposed to spend money for the renovation, but it failed to get an approval. The DC visited the sites and prepared the project and pursued the matter with the senior authorities for approval to allow the panchayat to use its money.
