The administrative committee of Takht Shri Hazur Sahib, Nanded, has accorded approval for undertaking gold work on the domes of the main shrine. It also okayed the construction of an air-conditioned 300-room “sarai” (inn) there.
The approval was granted at a meeting chaired by committee chairman Dr Vijay Satbir Singh at Nanded today. SGPC Chief Avtar Singh Makkar was also present in the meeting.
According to superintendent Ranjeet Singh Chigaria, the gold work on the domes of the main shrine was last carried out in the 19th century and now it would be conducted by Baba Narinder Singh and Baba Balwinder Singh after a gap of around 200 years.
A resolution to this effect was passed at the meeting. The committee also approved the construction of a 300-room inn near Dashmesh Hospital to facilitate the stay of devotees visiting the holy shrine. It was also decided to construct an ultramodern library adjacent to the NRI Niwas. A number of other decisions were also taken keeping in mind the welfare of employees.
