The Haryana Hindu Mahasabha has courted another row by backing controversial film ‘Messenger of God’ featuring Sirsa-based Dera Sachha Sauda head Gurmeet Ram Rahim.
The dera management had supported the BJP in the recent elections to the State Assembly.
In a statement issued here today, Haryana Hindu Mahasabha working president Dharampal Siwach said the mahasabha supported the film . He said dera chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim was a good man, but some people were trying to tarnish his image. Siwach said if some office-bearer of the mahasabha opposed MSG, it should be considered as his or her personal opinion. The mahasabha did not oppose the movie, he added.
He said the Union Government should honour Hindu residents having four children, and if the population control regime had to be implemented, it should be implemented on people of all religions.
Rewari: Endorsing the MSG, the Hindu Mahasabha national spokesman Lalit Bhardwaj has clarified that the mahasabha is not resisting the MSG because there is nothing against Hinduism in the movie.
Interacting with mediapersons here on Sunday evening, Bhardwaj said: “The mahasabha has nothing to do with the statements issued by its officer-bearers regarding the MSG. These statements should be considered as their personal views.”
