The Parwanoo-based National Research and Technology Consortium (NRTC) has obtained the prestigious National Accreditation Board for Testing and Calibration Laboratories (NABL) accreditation for its electrical testing laboratory thus making it the first lab in the country to achieve this feat under the IS 9281 specification.
This will facilitate testing of various electrical equipment such as electric and steam iron, radiator, immersion water heater, instantaneous water heater, kettle, mixer, toaster, electronic weighing system and electrical load cell for industrial units manufacturing these products.
Terming it as a big achievement, institute’s director AK Lal said the NRTC had become the first lab in the country to have facility for testing of electronic weighing system and electrical load cell. This will not only facilitate the industrial units of Himachal but also of the neighbouring states.
The institute was also working on a project funded by the Ministry of Communication and Information Technology at the cost of Rs 140.27 lakh for upgrade of electrical testing laboratory.
