Omaxe City residents up in arms

Patiala, August 7
Residents of PDA Omaxe City held a protest outside the main gate of the colony as the power supply to the streetlights in the area has been snapped from the past two days due to the non-payment of electricity bills amounting to lakhs.
The residents are now up in arms against the Omaxe authorities and the district administration who had been conveniently sitting over the issue.
Kesar Singh Bhangoo, a resident of PDA Omaxe City, said he met Omaxe officials regarding the issue, but to no avail. Later, he even met Patiala Deputy Commissioner Ramvir Singh, but no action had been taken yet.
“We have submitted various representations to the authorities concerned, but there is no solution to the problem. Despite over 130 families residing in the area, the company has not bothered to solve our problem,” he said.
The PDA Omaxe authorities said the issue would be resolved soon.
Bhangoo, who is also the general secretary of the PDA Omaxe City Welfare Association, Patiala, said they would take up the matter with the state government soon as the repeated reminders to various agencies have failed to yield results.
