Muktsar, December 3
Of the total 149 services brought under the Right to Service (RTS) Act, only 27 are available to Muktsar residents at the Suvidha Centre.
Not even a single service relating to the agriculture, animal husbandry, education, power, water supply, health, town and country planning, welfare and local bodies departments is available at the centre.
Most of the people come to the centre for availing services related to the Transport Department, or to get new arms licences, or for the renewal of licences.
The district Suvidha Centre has sold 75,816 forms for various services this year so far. The pendency in providing services has decreased sharply. At present, only 75 documents remain to be provided to the applicants.
Majority of the residents are, however, not satisfied with the services being provided at the Suvidha Centre. Some organisations have submitted memorandums to the Deputy Commissioner demanding that the price of each and every file should be printed on it.
The file to apply for a new arms licence is available for Rs 3,500 and Rs 780 are to be paid as facilitation charges. Further, the administration "arbitrarily" charges Rs 4,000 as donation for the District Red Cross Society.
Rajiv Gupta, in charge, Suvidha Centre, Muktsar, said, "The price of every file and the facilitation charges are decided by the Chief Secretary. We have nominal pendency, which speaks about our efficiency."
