Panchkula doctor gets‘Jewel of India Award’

A Panchkula-based doctor, Maj-Gen Puran Chand Chamyal (retd), has added another feather to his cap with the Indian Solidarity Council, New Delhi, selecting him for the ‘Jewel of India Award’.

A former professor and Head, Department of ENT, Armed Forces Medical College, Pune, Chamyal has been selected for his outstanding achievements and remarkable role in the field of medical education.

Dr Chamyal has already many honours and awards to his credit in India and abroad, including the ‘Best Citizen of India Award’ presented by the International Publication House of New Delhi in 2011.

He is known for his social service and providing free medical (ENT) services to the needy of the region. He was honoured by the Haryana Governor and other RWAs and NGOs in Panchkula, Chandigarh, Mohali and various parts of Himachal Pradesh for the same.

Prof Chamyal has also got recognition and honours in the US and the UK for academic excellence and achievements as a teacher when he was honoured in Dayton, Ohio (USA), by VA Hospital in March 2006 and also by the International Biographic Centre of Cambridge (UK) in 2012 where he was chosen in the top 100 teachers.
