Panchkula to get AYUSH hospital

The stage is set for the establishment of a state-of-the-art 50-bedded  Ayurveda, Yoga and Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha and Homoeopathy (AYUSH) hospital in Panchkula.

Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar has approved the project, to be built at a cost of Rs 10 crore on 12 acres in Sector 3. “The Central Government has sanctioned Rs 9 crore for this hospital, which will be set up with the assistance of the National AYUSH Mission. The hospital will benefit residents of Panchkula and the adjoining areas,” Health Minister Anil Vij said.

Panchkula MLA and BJP chief whip Gian Chand Gupta thanked Khattar and Vij under whose leadership the township has got several projects.

Officials said the  hospital would  have all wings of AYUSH, including “panchkarma, vasti, vaman, virechan, shirodhara and nasya”. Besides, OPDs of the Unani, 

Yoga, Siddha and Homoeopathy systems of medicines would also be started for people’s benefit,” they said.

After coming to power  in the state on October 26, 2014, the BJP government, led by Manohar Lal Khattar, decided to promote the alternative systems of medicines. The government appointed yoga guru Baba Ramdev as the state’s brand ambassador for yoga and ayurveda. Baba Ramdev is helping the government develop the world’s largest herbal forest in the Morni hills in Panchkula. The AYUSH Department is  already operating a 100-bedded hospital at Sri Krishna Ayurvedic College, Kurukshetra, and a 25-bedded hospital at Bhiwani. Besides,  two such hospitals having 10 beds each and six primary health centres are functioning.
