The National Dairy Research Institute (NDRI) has ordered an inquiry into an alleged incident of ragging.
In a complaint to the NDRI Director, Kapil Kamboj, a resident of Yamunanagar, alleged that his son, a BTech student in the National Dairy Research Institute, was forced to crawl on elbows on the intervening night of Wednesday and Thursday in a hostel by a student who was working in a milk plant in Rohtak. After the incident, his son was under depression, he said.
“We have zero tolerance for ragging and anyone found involved in the illegal act would be expelled from the institution,” said Director of the National Dairy Research Institute Dr AK Srivastava.
“I have asked the disciplinary committee to inquire into the facts,” Dr AK Srivastavasaid, adding that it would also probe how the accused was staying in the hostel on that day.
Dr Srivastava said that the accused was a fourth year student of the National Dairy Research Institute and was working in a plant in Rohtak. He could not stay in the hostel, he said.
He admitted that several students of the hostel had been quizzed and their statements had been recorded by the committee members probing the incident.
