Paper on hair transplant
Medical superintendent and skin diseases expert of Mohan Dai Oswal Hospital Dr Gurinderjit Singh presented a paper in CosdermIndia 2015 - the 11th Annual Congress of skin diseases held in Mumbai. Dr Gurinderjit Singh was the only doctor from Punjab to represent the state in this congress. In his paper on hair problems, he said not only in the country, but around the world lakhs of people face skin problems due to change in the environment. He said with hair transplantation, one could give a new life to hair. He claimed that in a special session of six to eight hours, around 3,000 to 5,000 new hair transplants could be done. Dr Gurinderjit added that the hair industry was growing day by day in the country.
Eye check-up camps
During the last one month, Sankara Eye Hospital organised eye screening programme in different schools of the city in which preliminary tests were conducted on nearly 2,100 students. Of these, as many as 450 students were identified with some vision problems and then referred to hospital for further check up and treatment. The eye screening camps were held at the GHG Academy-Jagraon, Harvest International School and Eastwood International School. The idea was to diagnose eye problems in children early and treat them.
Farewell
A farewell function was organised at the Dumra Auditorium of Dayanand Medical College and Hospital to felicitate Prof Harmesh Singh Bains (Head of Paediatrics) on his retirement. Speaking on the occasion, principal Dr Sandeep Puri said Dr Bains had been close to all the faculty members and was actively involved in various academic pursuits of his department. He said Dr Bains was acknowledged as a committed and dedicated pediatrician by his fellow colleagues during his 26 years of service in the department. Dr Puneet Aulakh Pooni, who will succeed Dr Bains as Professor and Head of Pediatrics, said Dr Bains would always remain a guide to the department and his experiences would always be available for benefit of the patients.
Chhatra Sammelan
Chhatra Sammelan will be organised on Thursday at Guru Nanak Bhawan. This was informed by state president of the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP), Vikas Singla.
