Dehradun, April 17
Governor KK Paul today inaugurated the newly constructed Sri Hanuman Dham temple and cultural centre at Chhoi, Ramnagar, in Nainital district.
The Governor also participated in the programme of installation of a Hanuman idol in the temple complex organised by the Hanuman Dham Trust. He visited the trust-run camp for differently-abled persons and sought information about the schemes available for them. He inaugurated, by lighting the ceremonial lamp, various programmes that will continue till April 22.
The Governor while addressing the people present on the occasion said Devbhumi Uttarakhand was well known for its pilgrim destinations. The Char Dham yatra brought lakhs of devotees from all over the country and abroad every year.
He congratulated the trust for setting up of the Hanuman Dham in this sacred region. He said at the Hanuman Dham, the “darshan” of Sri Hanuman could be had in his various “swaroops”. The Governor said the character of Sri Hanuman had not only evoked faith in the people of India but was also highly revered by people from other countries. US President Barack Obama carried a small idol of Sri Hanuman with him. The character of Sri Hanuman was even more relevant in this era where people were forgetting their values and only seeking material comforts.
The Governor said strong determination, the wish to serve, surrender, faith in moral values, welfare of humanity, a pure and peaceful heart, a synthesis of knowledge and intellect, and a firm character were the aspects of Sri Hanuman’s personality and these were extremely relevant for inspiring today’s youth. Goswami Tulsidas has said “Kumati niwar sumati ke sangi” ( Evil thoughts should be destroyed and one should move forward with good thoughts).
