Shimla, May 30
Raman K Sharma, director, Health, Safety and Regulation, today said the provisions of the Pre-Conception and Pre-Natal Diagnostic Techniques (PCPNDT) Act were strictly being followed in the state.
He said stringent action against violators had improved the gender ratio in the state. Sharma was presiding over a meeting of the state advisory committee here. He said the state and district-level committees conducted as many as 602 inspections of 265 ultrasound clinics and issued warnings for the shortcomings detected in the clinics.
He said the officials concerned had been asked to conduct at least four inspections at each clinic in a year. As many as six appeals had been decided while few others were sub-judicious, he added. — TNS
