Thousands of people today attended the ‘chaharum’ of the late Mufti Mohammad Sayeed at the Fairview residence in Srinagar.
Several religious scholars and political leaders spoke on the occasion and paid glowing tributes highlighting the significant contribution of Mufti Mohammad Sayeed to the socio-economic development of the state.
Senior party leaders paid homage to their guide and mentor who devoted his entire life in the service of people of the state.
Former minister and senior PDP leader Naeem Akhter said the late Chief Minister had a vision for people of Jammu and Kashmir who had been suffering due to the decades-long violence and the state would badly miss him.
“Mufti Saheb was my constituency and I have now no constituency,” said an emotional Akhter said during the prayer meeting.
Former minister and Peoples Conference chairman Sajjad Gani Lone said the late Mufti Mohammad Sayeed was like his father, who would often point out his mistakes. “Mufti Saheb always treated me like his son and pointed out mistakes like a father,” he said. People from all walks of life came to pay their homage to the departed leader. — TNS
