PGI doctor dies

Dr Shyam Balaji Achuthan, a senior resident doctor of Pharmacology Department at the PGI, died this morning after his sugar level fell.

The doctor was sitting in his room when his health deteriorated. He was provided treatment immediately but he did not survive. Doctors said he suffered sudden pain in his chest at 8.15 am, following which he became unconscious.

The police have sent the body for post-mortem examination.

Dr Achurthan was senior resident at the PGI for the past six years. He hailed from Tamil Nadu.
