Pinegrove students scale 13,600-ft peak

A group of 25 students and two teachers from Pinegrove School, Subathu, led by Lt Sanjay Singha successfully completed a seven-day 13,600 feet high altitude trekking expedition to Chandranahan Lake Summit in Pabbar Valley of Rohru region in Shimla district.

The school authorities said braving the hardest physical and mental challenges, facing cold conditions and inclement weather, the seven-day expedition saw the students undertake about five to six hours rigorous trek every day.

The expedition was conducted under the aegis of Pinegrove School, National Cadet Corps (NCC), International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the trainers from the Atal Bihari Vajpayee Institute of Mountaineering (ABVIM), Manali.

Baldev Kanwar, a former mountaineer, was the technical director of the expedition.
