Pinjore Heritage festival to kick off on Dec 6

The Haryana Tourism Department will celebrate the 9th Pinjore Heritage Festival on December 6-7 at the Pinjore Gardens.
The event is organised and hosted by state tourism department in tandem with Union Ministry of Tourism.
Additional Chief Secretary, Tourism, S.S. Dhillon said that the festival will be inaugurated by Tourism Minister, Mr. Ram Bilas Sharma, on December 6 at 6 p.m. whereas the Governor, Prof. Kaptan Singh Solanki, will preside over the closing ceremony on December 7 at 6 p.m. The Minister of State for Tourism, Karan Dev Kamboj, will also grace the occasion.
The Managing Director, Haryana Tourism Corporation, Sumita Misra, said that a number of competitions will be organised on both days for school students of Class VIII to XII and one team from each school for the competitions will be enrolled on first-come-first-serve basis from 10 a.m. onwards.
She said that on the first day, Rangoli competition will be held on the Indian heritage theme. A group dance competition will be held. In the individual category, a collage making competition on the same theme would be conducted while a slogan writing contest will be held on cleanliness and a thali decoration too will be organized.
Similarly, on the second day, the competitions in the individual category for students are tohran making, drawing and greeting card making will be held. Competitions like flower arrangement, vase decoration and clay modelling that are being conducted for the first time in the festival. In the group category, nukkad dance for students will be organised in each group.
This year, famous Punjabi singer Roshan Prince and renowned Sufi singer Kamal Khan will be the star performers in the evening programmes to be held from 5.45 p.m. onwards on December 6 – 7, respectively. A tourism quiz and a rock band performance will be the added attractions on the opening day.
In the Crafts Bazaar, crafts persons from different parts of the country will showcase their handlooms and handicrafts. Embroidered crochet items, art metal ware, terracotta, dry flowers, soft toys, imitation jewellery, lac bangles will be on display.
Misra said that cultural performances representing different parts of India would also be presented. Performances by folk dance groups of NZCCentre, Patiala, Rouf dance of Jammu and Kashmir, Chappeli dance of Uttrakhand, Bhangra of Punjab and puppet show will entertain the visitors.
A food court would be another major attraction of the festival, she added.
