Plan to connect Faridabad, Gurgaon with Metro: CM

The state government proposed to connect industrial city of Faridabad and millennium city of Gurgaon through the Metro rail in near future.

This was announced by the Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal while speaking at a rally in the NIT Assembly segment here last evening. He also announced a budget of several crores of rupees for various development projects in the segment.

Claiming that his government was focused on fast-track development of the state without any biased approach, Manohar Lal said Faridabad being an industrial city and having one of the largest populations in the state deserved more attention. He said besides providing the Metro service between Faridabad and Gurgaon, the state government would also ensure expansion of the Metro facility to connect more localities in Faridabad city. The proposal to extend the Metro rail to Greater Faridabad, also known as Neharpar area, was also on the cards, he added.

Though the previous Hooda government had also accepted in principle to provide a Metro Link between Faridabad and Gurgaon, the two prominent commercial hubs of the state, but nothing came on ground, it is revealed.

Claiming that the decision to develop Faridabad as a smart city has infused a ray of new hope among the people, he said the commencement of Badarpur-Faridabad Metro link had not only improved the connectivity to the city, but also boosted the economic activities in the region.

The CM announced a slew of schemes, which included the decision to open state’s first skill development university at Dudhola village of Palwal district, improving the city bus service in Faridabad and construction of direct road to Noida by constructing a bridge over the Yamuna. The other announcements included Rs 2.5 crore for drainage of sewage, Rs 30 crore for the completion of pending projects of the area, Rs 20 crore for the construction of drains and streets in the area and additional budget of Rs 20 crore for the development of villages and town of Faridabad NIT.
