To make orphans feel part of society, the Jammu and Kashmir Police today organised an iftaar party-cum-dinner for the orphans living in Rahat Manzil, Bemina.
The police officials said under the directions of Inspector General Police (IGP), Kashmir, Syed Javaid Mujtaba Gillani, Police Control Room, Srinagar, of the JK Police organised an iftaar and dinner for orphans living in Rahat Manzil, Bemina.
They said various police officials, including Senior Superintendent of Police Imtiyaz Hussian, had dinner with the orphan children.
“The police officers had iftaar and dinner with the children and staff members of Rahat Manzil, including Mohammad Iqbal, vice-secretary of the orphanage,” they said.
There are some 500 children of different age groups presently living in Rahat Manzil for whom education, boarding and lodging is provided by the management of the orphanage. “We arranged this get-together to give a sense of belonging to these children and make them feel that they are part and parcel of society,” the SSP said.
The official said the Police Control Room, Kashmir, had been setting up iftaar points in different parts of the city since the beginning of the Ramazan where people were served iftaari. “Earlier, iftaari was arranged for the patients and attendants of Shri Mahraja Hari Singh Hospital, Lal Ded, Sher-i-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences, Soura, and other city hospitals. But iftaar and dinner with children at Rahat Manzil was something special,” the SSP said.The IGP, Kashmir, said both society and orphans needed to have a sense of belongingness with one another.
