The “negligence” of the Uttar Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam (UHBVN) in preparing the electricity bills of cancer-stricken Yogender Sharma (60) has compelled him to make rounds of its office to get his bills rectified every second month.
The discom has been sending him electricity bills of exorbitant amount for the past six months. “Every time, I rectified the bill amount so as to avoid the situation next time, but to no avail. This time, I have received the bill for Rs 2.11 lakh, while the average of my electricity consumption is nearly 300 units,” Sharma said.
Perturbed over the “irresponsible” manner of the UHBVN’s functioning, he has decided to lodge a complaint at the CM Window.
“Ever since I got a new meter installed in June 2014, I have been getting bills of hefty amounts. I was shocked to get a bill for Rs 2.32 lakh in October 2014. After making several rounds of the office, my bill was rectified and I was asked to pay Rs 1,179,” the Bhatti Colony resident said.
Later, the UHBVN sent him bills for Rs 86,571 and Rs 1.06 lakh for December 2014 and February 2015, respectively. He again got the mistake rectified and was amount was corrected to Rs 260 and Rs 3,303. Sharma said his health did not allow him to visit UHBVN’s office frequently, as he had been suffering from throat cancer for two years. Ashish, SDO, UHBVN, said the case was not in his knowledge. “The discom is ready to rectify the mistake if any,” he added.
